A bit about the role...

 

This post holder will support the development, delivery, and management of common, consistent, and high-quality data and reporting. They will establish data and system requirements, embed new tools and approaches to information analysis, automate reporting processes and ensure data quality. 

The individual will be required to work regularly and closely with all teams across the agency to understand and interpret their needs. You will be comfortable in collecting and analysing data from multiple sources and converting them into meaningful insights, largely through Power BI, to drive business decisions and underpin data-led decision-making.

providing technical expertise on automated reporting improvements, data integration and visualisation; business partnering with Digital and wider teams on system and process improvements; helping translate business needs into technical reporting requirements; engaging with the emerging work on a new Data Platform and data architecture.

 

A bit about you…

 

The applicant will demonstrate strong inter-personal skills to support business partnering relationships with the Delivery Directorates  and Corporate Functions.

They will be able to identify and articulate operational and strategic reporting requirements and translate these into data models and visualisations. They will help build and maintain a suite of self-service Power BI reports, and evolve these in response to changes to policy, programmes, technology, and data architecture.

Job accountabilities and responsibilities 

1. Deliver effective reporting solutions, optimise automation, strive for consistency and deliver efficiencies.

2. Provide subject matter expertise around data models, data visualisation and self-service-reporting, and contribute to the growing community of practice in this area.

3. Design and build MI reports that tell a story, provide business insights and meet end-consumer needs to assist in data-led decision making.

4. Improve and maintain high priority business intelligence (BI) products.

5. Work closely with Operational Management and front-line colleagues to understand their day-to-day reporting requirements.

6. Identify issues with data quality or missing data, and work with system owners and other teams to help mitigate these to deliver robust automated reporting.

7. Implement agreed standards (e.g. information security, data quality) to ensure developed intelligence and data can be easily interpreted by others and adopt appropriate change management processes for data and systems changes and manage associated risk.

8. Ensure that appropriate data standards are met, provide clear documentation, and ensure results are produced in line with our assurance framework.

9. Work with wider Data and Analytical colleagues to take advantage of the emerging opportunities in cloud technology and data architecture, and to promote the use of self-service analytical capabilities across the business.
