About the role...

 

Homes England is looking for a Content Designer to create, evaluate, update and review content across the end-to-end user journey on GOV.UK and other digital platforms.

You will join the User Centred Design team, a passionate and highly skilled group dedicated to improving how Homes England delivers content on GOV.UK, within a fast-growing national organisation with a strong social purpose.

This is a hands-on content design role that combines technical skill with a strong user-centred approach, ensuring that everything we publish is clear, accessible and effective in helping people understand and act on our services and policies. Working with key stakeholders, policy teams and regional teams, you will help ensure publications are efficient, consistent and effective, meeting accessibility and Government Digital Service standards and supporting Homes England's wider commitment to inclusive communications. You will apply content standards and style guidelines consistently and contribute to the wider cross-government content community.

You will support the design and delivery of key strategic projects, including the National Housing Bank, the Social and Affordable Homes Programme, the Cladding Safety Scheme and the Capital Funding Guide. This is a role focussed on developing guidance and organisational information content as opposed to service screens.

About you...

 

You'll be comfortable supporting the agency with complex publishing issues, and committed to making content available in an easy-to-understand, plain English and accessible way.

You'll be proficient in the principles of content design, confident using evidence, data and research to inform content decisions, and skilled at building relationships across the agency with a focus on user needs. You'll also engage with and contribute to the wider cross-government content community.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy, so you'll be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders, with a good understanding of the operational impact of what we do as a Communications Team. You'll enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way, and be confident negotiating and persuading others.

As an experienced content design professional, you'll know how to guide and support colleagues, and demonstrate that you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
