Working in the Data Engineering & Platform Team, the Data Test & Assurance Engineer will play a critical role in defining, embedding and assuring data testing practices across our Azure-based Data Platform. You will be joining our highly skilled and collaborative data team, committed to delivering reliable, secure and high-quality data products and services that enable better decision-making across the organisation.

Working with key stakeholders across Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science and Technology teams, you will help ensure that data platform services are reliable, secure, auditable and fit for purpose, while driving the adoption of modern testing and assurance practices.
The role will support the design and delivery of key strategic data platform initiatives, embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle. There are exciting projects involving cloud data platforms, advanced analytics, machine learning and AI workloads, providing an excellent opportunity to balance hands-on technical delivery with the introduction of innovative testing and assurance capabilities.
You'll be comfortable supporting complex data engineering and platform assurance challenges, ensuring that data products and services meet the highest standards of quality, reliability and security. You will be highly proficient in automated testing, data validation and assurance practices, with strong technical skills in Python, PySpark and SQL.
Delivering on ambitious data transformation programmes is not always straightforward. You will be resilient and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams, and your decisions will be informed by a strong understanding of the operational and strategic value of data. You will enjoy working in an innovative, collaborative and engaging environment and be able to influence, challenge and drive positive change.
As an experienced Data Engineering and Test Assurance professional, you will understand how to establish and maintain testing standards across complex cloud data environments. You will have experience working with technologies such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps and Data Lake technologies, and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of secure-by-design principles, CI/CD quality controls, data governance and assurance practices.
You will also be experienced in working across multidisciplinary teams, helping to mentor others, share best practice and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. You will thrive in a collaborative and inclusive environment, bringing a proactive approach to solving complex data quality and assurance challenges.
