About the role...

The role of the Transaction Execution team is to successfully manage a senior debt residential transaction from Project Approval through to Contract within time and budget. This will require a full understanding of the documentation and associated due diligence processes which support a development finance scheme. The successful candidate must be able to proactively manage the relationship with external and internal stakeholders and to be able to progress multiple transactions concurrently.

This team has the appetite and resources to shape the future of housing investment in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose, whilst applying robust governance processes around capital allocation.

We will do this through the various interventions the National Housing Bank will offer including Loans, Equity and Guarantees products.  These leverage wider investment to achieve outcomes that are a significant multiple of the Agency’s participation.

Working in a team with transaction execution specialists, focussing on Development Finance transactions, the Senior Manager will play a leading role in contracting a portfolio of projects. You will be a key member of a new team aimed at owning the contracting process, improving efficiency and using a standardised approach to lead on challenging transactions.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping our delivery processes, systematically improving the way we conduct due diligence and execute contracts. Working with Borrowers, internal stakeholders and Loans colleagues, you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective execution of Development Finance projects post-approval, followed by a streamlined handover to Portfolio Management.

We value diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving within our teams, and therefore welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds.

About you...

As Senior Manager in our Transaction Execution team you will be delivering a first class service to our internal and external stakeholders, you will be used to looking for ways to improve and innovate. You will be an effective collaborator and be able to negotiate and persuade. In order to keep on top of transactions, you will also demonstrate excellent organisational skills.

You'll be comfortable with all aspects of execution within Homes England – including excellent project and stakeholder management, developing a detailed understanding of the Agency’s policies and investment products, as well as a detailed knowledge of Homes England’s investment contracts and due diligence reports. You will also bring with you an existing network of key stakeholders which can be leveraged to aid completion of your team’s transactions. In addition, you will be able to mentor and develop colleagues with less experience to ensure the team’s skillset continues to grow.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and proficient in managing stakeholders at all levels and your discussions will always be framed by a detailed understanding of the commercial and operational impacts of what we do as a wider Loans team. You will thrive on developing new ways of working as you seek out efficiencies and standardisation, working in an innovative way to contribute to the achievement of your team’s ambitious goals.

About the National Housing Bank

Homes England is strengthening UK Government’s ambitions for housing and regeneration through the introduction of the National Housing Bank (NHB). The NHB is a new financial organisation designed to unlock investment at scale and accelerate the delivery of more homes, stronger places and thriving communities across the country. Backed with £16bn in new financial capacity, alongside £6bn already committed this Parliament, the NHB represents one of the most significant new interventions in the housing sector in a generation.

The NHB, operating as a subsidiary of Homes England, exists to unlock investment at scale and connect capital with capability. We use our financial capacity and deep local relationships to drive regeneration, enable innovation and create the conditions for sustainable growth. By pairing government-backed finance with solutions that the market needs, we help partners bring forward the homes, infrastructure and long-term development that transform places and support people to live well.

Purpose-driven and built for impact, the NHB provides its partners the confidence and financial firepower to innovate and unlock complex sites, scale up investment and deliver at pace. Offering custom-built finance, strong partnerships and a commitment to shaping better futures, the NHB enables investment that would not otherwise happen- accelerating growth and creating the conditions for communities to flourish.

Joining the National Housing Bank offers a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape this new national organisation from the ground up; influencing how we operate, how we partner, and how we deliver impact across the country.

How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.
