This is a rare chance to work with Homes England’s Chief Regional Delivery Directorate, supporting the delivery of the homes the country needs. Our paid six-week Summer Internship (27th July – 4th September 2026) offers hands-on experience in land, planning and housing delivery. You’ll develop key skills through real projects — from site acquisition to disposal — and gain an insider’s view of how we bring land forward for development.

You’ll be based in our Chief Regional Delivery team, led by experienced professionals and surrounded by surveyors, planners, engineers, economists and policy leads, all working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll work from one of our national offices and from home, with full IT support, training, employee benefits and generous staff networks.

About the role...

This internship gives you real responsibility from Day One. You will:

• Contribute to reports, case studies and presentations for senior audiences.

• Support de-risking and disposal strategies for housing sites.

• Help review site planning history, context and policy frameworks.

• Gather and analyse data, carry out basic appraisals and interpret risks.

• Engage with teams like Legal, Risk, Finance and Spatial Solutions.

• Learn how we safeguard public land and support regeneration at scale.

You’ll also attend expert-led sessions that walk through the full development cycle — from land acquisition and technical due diligence to planning and post-contract monitoring. By the end of the internship, you’ll have built commercial awareness, applied development-based skills and contributed meaningfully to a national organisation with a real social mission.

• Confidence using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

• Clear communication, report writing and presentation skills.

• The ability to work independently and collaborate in teams.

• Curiosity, professionalism and a drive to make an impact.

You’ll thrive if you’re proactive, goal-oriented and able to juggle tasks. You’ll also be open to feedback, keen to learn and ready to challenge and improve how we work.
