We’re looking for a Head of Chief Investments Office to join us on a maternity cover.

This is a pivotal leadership role supporting the Chief Investment Officer and the wider Investments Directorate at Homes England.

Working directly with Simon Century, the Chief Investments Officer, the Head of Chief Investments Office will play a critical role in enabling the smooth and effective operation of the Investments Directorate.

You’ll be part of a small but dynamic and effective team that’s trusted to deliver at pace and with purpose. We are committed to driving strategic impact and operational excellence across Homes England’s investment activities.

We are dedicated to delivering first-class strategic and operational support, ensuring the Directorate runs efficiently and in line with policy, governance, and business priorities. We value collaboration, flexibility, and diversity of experience and perspective, fostering strong decision-making and problem-solving across the team.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of investment operations in a fast-growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional leadership team, you will ensure consistent and effective delivery of strategic support and help shape how the Directorate contributes to the Agency’s mission and strategic objectives.

The role will lead a high-performing team and support the Chief Investment Officer in managing a multi-million pound admin budget, overseeing people, finance, procurement, and governance activities. You’ll also play a key role in delivering change projects that support the Directorate’s ambitious People Agenda and transformation priorities.

A bit about you…

You’ll be comfortable supporting senior leaders with complex strategic and operational issues, aiming to drive performance excellence and high levels of staff engagement. You’ll be proficient in managing budgets, leading change, and navigating governance and policy frameworks.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You’ll be resilient, confident managing senior stakeholders, and your discussions will always be shaped by a strong understanding of the commercial and operational impact of our work. You’ll enjoy working in an innovative, engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade effectively.

As an experienced strategic operations leader, you’ll understand how to lead and support colleagues, and demonstrate that you can work collaboratively and inclusively as part of an agile and focused team.

Who are we?

Homes England: The Housing and Regeneration Agency

We believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.

How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.

Together with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
