There couldn’t be a better time to work in Affordable Housing at Homes England following the biggest settlement announced as part of recent Spending Review of a 10 year £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme. You will be part of the team working closely with government and partners across the sector to launch the new programme as well as deliver against existing commitments. We are looking for individuals excited and motivated by the opportunity to shape future delivery, and ways of working, as Homes England moves to a more regional and place-based operating model.
Working in a team with our Senior Managers – Affordable Housing Products, the Manager – Affordable Housing Products will support the Agency’s affordable homes programmes as part of the Affordable Housing Grants team. You will be joining a small team, who are committed to making positive change in how affordable homes are delivered.
This is an exciting time to join Affordable Housing Grants as we prepare to deliver the government’s ambitious new Social and Affordable Homes Programme. This is a rare chance to shape the future guidance for affordable homes delivery in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose.
The team works closely with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, housing providers, and industry groups, as well as other teams in Affordable Housing Grants, to develop our programme guidance and answer queries. We also run the citizen facing service to help people find affordable home ownership providers. This is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst bringing innovative solutions to the affordable housing offering.
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our internal and external stakeholders, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.
You'll be comfortable supporting the Senior Managers – Affordable Housing Products with complex issues relating to affordable housing products including Social Rent, Affordable Rent, Rent to Buy, and Shared Ownership. Due to a current focus on improving Shared Ownership outcomes for customers, you will have a deep understanding of Shared Ownership delivery in particular - ideally from a customer facing background.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
As an experienced housing professional you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
