There couldn’t be a better time to work in Affordable Housing at Homes England following the biggest settlement announced as part of recent Spending Review of a 10 year £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme. You will be part of the team working closely with government and partners across the sector to launch the new programme as well as deliver against existing commitments. We are looking for individuals excited and motivated by the opportunity to shape future delivery, and ways of working, as Homes England moves to a more regional and place-based operating model.
Working in the Affordable Housing Programmes and Products team, you will play a key role in the development, launch and delivery of the new Social and Affordable Homes Programme. The team sits within the agency’s wider Affordable Housing Grants team and has a crucial role in supporting the government to deliver the biggest increase in social and affordable housing delivery in a generation.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the agency – as well as the wider affordable housing sector – to ensure the recently announced programme is launched and delivered as seamlessly as possible. You will also be involved in identifying ways to further enhance the delivery of social and affordable housing.
You will work as part of a small, but friendly and talented, team who are committed to delivering real social impact through affordable housing. This will include developing programme guidance, leading stakeholder engagement, and supporting the introduction of new digital services.
You will engage with the affordable housing sector – building and maintaining relationships with MHCLG, representative bodies, and delivery partners – to ensure the new programme continues to reflect their ambitions and priorities.
This is a rare chance to shape the future of social and affordable housing delivery in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose.
You will be passionate about social and affordable housing – and its positive impact on overall housing delivery and peoples’ lives.
You will be adept at working collaboratively and building relationships with a diverse range of internal and external colleagues in pursuit of a shared mission and set of objectives.
You’ll be an agile operator with strong communications skills and an eye for detail, and be confident at juggling multiple projects and tasks, with speed not haste. You’ll be comfortable leading or contributing to operational and strategic tasks through clear action or advice, working at managerial level.
You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
Homes England : The Housing and Regeneration Agency
We believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.
How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.
Together with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
