There couldn’t be a better time to work in Affordable Housing at Homes England following the biggest settlement announced as part of recent Spending Review of a 10 year £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme. You will be part of the team working closely with government and partners across the sector to launch the new programme as well as deliver against existing commitments. We are looking for individuals excited and motivated by the opportunity to shape future delivery, and ways of working, as Homes England moves to a more regional and place-based operating model.
Working in a team with Helen Wilkes, Head of Provider Services New Business, and other team members Ceri and Ian, the Senior Manager New Business role will play a critical part in developing, supporting and implementing the contractual framework that underpins the Affordable Housing Grant programmes. You will be joining our small and enthusiastic team of 3 people, who are committed to making positive change in how we work with our partners.
Helen believes in delivering a first-class customer service, resolving issues informally wherever possible, taking an innovative and creative approach to the range of complex issues handled by the team. Helen believes in working in a collaborative way and values diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving within the team.
This is a rare chance to shape the future Social and Affordable Homes Programme in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional team you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective resolution of Grant Agreement related queries and contract breaches and have the opportunity to help create effective solutions to support the delivery of the Affordable Housing Grant programmes.
The role will support the design and delivery of key strategic projects around social and affordable housing. There are some ambitious projects to get involved with and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst bringing innovative solutions to the contracts of the Affordable Housing Grant programmes.
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.
You'll be comfortable supporting the Head of Provider Services New Business with complex contractual issues relating to our Grant Agreements, associated contract documents and relevant legislation. You will be proficient in managing, planning and prioritising your workload, using your skills, knowledge and expertise to arrive at robust and deliverable outcomes. You will have the drive and confidence to lead and steer partners to reach agreed solutions, and see them through to implementation.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an affordable housing team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
As an experienced housing professional you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
