The Director of Project Delivery is a senior leadership position within the Cambridge Growth Company (CGC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Homes England. CGC was established to deliver the Government’s ambition for growth in Cambridge – one of the UK’s most dynamic and economically significant regions.
Our mission is to unlock Greater Cambridge’s full potential by accelerating the delivery of new homes, jobs, and infrastructure that support inclusive, sustainable economic growth. A key priority is ensuring this growth sets a national benchmark for placemaking, creating vibrant, resilient communities for current and future residents.
As Director, you will lead CGC’s Project Delivery function, overseeing a portfolio of high-impact development opportunities across the region. You’ll work closely with regional and national partners to progress site acceleration initiatives, including funding (equity, grant, loan), acquisitions, and strategic partnerships (including CPOs). You’ll also act as a key interface with Homes England programmes and teams to ensure alignment and integration.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of place-based housing delivery and regeneration in Cambridge. You’ll collaborate with influential stakeholders and lead a talented team driving forward complex, multi-disciplinary workstreams.
We’re seeking a visionary leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, region-wide housing and mixed-use developments. You’ll bring deep experience across the full project lifecycle—from concept to completion—and a passion for placemaking and regeneration.
You’ll be motivated by the transformative power of development to address social deprivation and economic underperformance. Your leadership will be grounded in technical and commercial expertise, with a strong understanding of mixed-use development and the knowledge economy.
Key attributes we’re looking for:
• Strategic leadership in delivering complex sites and programmes
• Familiarity with business case development and engagement with government departments
• Deep understanding of sustainable placemaking, planning, and relevant government policies
• Ability to translate policy into operational delivery
• Experience building high-performing teams and setting clear, strategic objectives
• A collaborative, can-do mindset suited to a fast-paced, evolving environment
As CGC grows, we’re looking for individuals who not only bring specialist expertise but also demonstrate adaptability, resilience, and a commitment to supporting the wider team.
All roles within CGC are aligned with Homes England’s values and behaviours, reflecting our shared commitment to excellence, inclusion, and public purpose.
