Quantitative Analyst X3

Application closing date: 15/05/2025

This role can be based in any of our listed offices, with regular travel to our London office.

A bit about the role...

We are looking for a talented and motivated Quantitative Analyst to join our innovative and technical financial risk modelling team.  Working closely with our Hiring Manager, Richard Alderson (Assistant Director – Modelling and Stress Testing) and a team of expert analysts, you will play a key role in delivering the advanced models and analysis that underpin Homes England’s understanding and management of financial risk.

You’ll be part of a small, specialist group within the Quantitative Risk and Stress Testing team, responsible for developing and maintaining a suite of advanced quantitative models. These models are essential for understanding and managing the financial risk associated with our portfolio. Your work will support a wide range of activities including credit risk modelling, IFRS 9, scenario analysis and forecasting, and stress testing.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape how financial risk is modelled and reported within a national organisation with real social purpose.  You will work with senior stakeholders and colleagues across the Agency, contributing technical insight and analysis that supports decision making and long-term financial planning.

You’ll also contribute to key strategic initiatives, delivering innovative, fit-for-purpose models while balancing the practical needs of the organisation. Whether it's enhancing our existing approaches to financial risk modelling or pioneering new risk quantification methods, you’ll be part of a team pushing forward how risk is quantified.

A bit about you…

You'll have a demonstrable track record in quantitative modelling and financial risk analysis within a financial organisation, consultancy, or similar environment. This will be paired with excellent numerical and analytical ability and advanced programming skills.

You’ll be confident working independently on complex modelling challenges, and experienced in collaborating with colleagues across a business to turn analytical results into impactful insights. Your communication skills will enable you to explain technical ideas to non-specialists, helping stakeholders make informed, evidence-based decisions.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with the following qualifications and experience:

Outstanding numerical and analytical ability, supported by a masters degree in a highly quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics, or equivalent significant professional experience.

Proven track record in a similar role, specialising in quantitative financial risk modelling, quantitative analysis, and quantitative model development.

Advanced programming skills in Python, SQL, and VBA, demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency and proven experience of delivering production-grade solutions.

Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions for sophisticated data manipulation and analysis.

Hands-on experience in model development using tools such as VS Code, Databricks, SQL, Azure DevOps (ADO), and Git.

Extensive experience of portfolio analysis and automated reporting (e.g. using Power BI).

Deep understanding of the end-to-end modelling lifecycle, with a strong track record in the design, development, documentation, testing, and validation of quantitative models.

Strong organisational and project management capabilities with excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise and work under pressure and provide challenge and guidance.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to team working and stakeholder engagement.

Exceptional communication skills - adept at translating technical concepts for non-subject matter experts, ensuring comprehensive understanding across all organisational levels via various formats (e.g. presentations, reports etc).

Evidence of commitment to continuous improvement, consistently seeking ways to enhance processes and outcomes.

Ability to work independently and with autonomy and demonstrate commercial awareness.
