A bit about the role...

Working in a team with Paul Taylor, Digital Publishing and Creative Content Manager, the Junior Content Designer role will play a critical role in helping us to communicate our messages on our internal and external digital platforms. You will be joining our small but talented team, who are committed to making positive change in how we communicate effectively to our audiences.

Our team is dedicated to delivering first-class customer service and takes an innovative and creative approach to turning our messages into engaging content, with a splash of creativity for our digital channels. Our team believes in working in a collaborative way, whilst valuing diversity in experience and perspective, which we believe fosters good decision making and problem solving.

As a Junior Content Designer, you will help plan, create, and manage content that meets the needs of specific audiences. You'll work closely with designers, developers and stakeholders to ensure users can find the information they need and complete tasks easily across our digital platforms.

This is a rare chance to shape the future of content design in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Our content design team works alongside content creators, creative artworkers, and other specialists to deliver high-quality communications.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in content design within government communications. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourage applications from all qualified candidates.

You will be an active part of the communications team at Homes England, sharing insights and practices across the team as well as working closely with other colleagues involved in User Centred Design (UCD) in the Agency.

A bit about you…

As a Junior Content Designer, you'll help us craft clear, user-focused content that connects with audiences across our digital platforms. You'll be joining our Digital Publishing and Creative Content Team where you'll apply content design principles to help users find information and complete tasks easily.

What we're looking for someone who:

- has excellent writing abilities with a focus on clarity and simplicity. You can create content in plain language that's accessible to diverse audiences and structure information logically while maintaining consistency in tone.

- understands audience needs and put yourself in users' shoes to create effective content, based on decisions of evidence and show curiosity about how people interact with content across different channels.

- has a basic understanding of how people consume information online, with interest in user journeys and information architecture. You're keen to build your knowledge of digital accessibility requirements.

- is enthusiastic about professional development, open to feedback, and curious about content design principles. You're committed to developing your skills through ongoing training.

- can work effectively with others, communicating confidently about content decisions and sharing ideas constructively within multidisciplinary teams.

- can break down complex information into user-friendly content, taking a problem-solving approach to structure, language and user needs.

- understands inclusive communications principles and are dedicated to creating content that works for everyone, regardless of their needs.

This role offers excellent development opportunities as you help us deliver engaging, accessible content that supports our organisation's mission and connects with our audiences.

Who are we?

Homes England: The Housing and Regeneration Agency

We believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.

How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.

Together with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
